There are two Dwarven civilizations in Gildersome. The Mountain Dwarves have made their homes to the mountains to the west, in the city of Ironkeep, and have built a proud, prosperous civilization. They hold control over a variety of ores, gems, and precious metals, which have made the Ironkeep Dwarves extremely wealthy. They’re also well-renowned smiths and artists.
The Hill Dwarves make their camps in the plains east of the Felwood, living a more simple existence surviving off the land. The Hill Dwarves live in the old settlement of Kedleston, which was all but abandoned years ago when many Dwarves were driven to the mountains after countless attacks from the Blade of Gruumsh. The Hill Dwarves are the last of the ancient dwarves, and many youth leave the confines of the settlement for adventure or Ironkeep rather than the peaceful coexistence with the earth.
Both dwarves are typically short by human standards, but stout and muscular. Most men prefer to wear beards, and braided or knotted hair is the typical fashion. Hill dwarves tend to create more intricate and artistic hair designs.
